A good children's book character needs to work beyond a single illustration. They need to be recognisable from different angles, expressive enough to carry a story and practical enough to appear consistently throughout an entire book.

l enjoy developing characters from those first rough ideas through to a finished design, exploring poses, expressions, personalities and the little details that make them feel alive.
